Ad Agency Leaders’ Reaction To RIL-Disney Merger; Subhash Chandra’s Accusations On SEBI Chair, LS Digital’s Expansion Into the US With ‘.fear_LS’, Netflix’s Monika Shergill’s Meeting With I&B Secy & More

Greetings of the day!

Dear Reader

Welcome to another edition of 'Scoop', your bi-weekly dose of news from Marketing Mind!

With Reliance-Disney merger getting the green signal from both Competition Commission of India and National Company Law Tribunal, despite several small hiccups, it is almost safe to term it as ‘Merger of the Year’ for the Indian Advertising and Marketing landscape. And while it comes with its own ups and downs pertaining to sports properties concentration into one entity, the grass is still greener on the other side of it as per ad agency leaders as the new and to-be formed entity out of this monolithic merger wouldn’t be the only entity to advertise upon. Hence cutting right to the chase, Marketing Mind presents to you a reaction story on what headline makers from Dentsu, Madison and Cheil India think of the merger in its lead story today.

Talking of mergers, the Chairman Emeritus of Zee- Subhash Chandra has accused SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch of blocking the Zee-Sony merger! In fact, he has not only called her ‘corrupt’, but is also considering legal action against her and is likely to cease cooperating with the capital markets regulator. Not only this, making headlines in the media landscape is Netflix India’s Content Head Monika Shergill who has recently met I&B Secretary Sanjay Jaju to address the controversy surrounding web series 'IC-814: The Kandahar Hijack'.

On the advertising front, LS Digital has expanded into the U.S. by entering into a joint venture with marketing consulting firm- .fearless to create ‘.fear-LS’ and Madison BMB’s Raj Nair has joined Garage Worldwide as its new Chief Creative Officer. Additionally, we also present to you  insights from Korra’s CEO- Saket Vaidya on the growing influence of micro-influencers in India's marketing landscape and why they are becoming all the more crucial in media mixes of brands.
